Mission
Family history was never supposed to be a subscription.
Somewhere there’s a name in a ledger, a face in a photograph, a question your grandmother never got to ask. Finding the answer should feel like discovery, not like paying rent.
Roots to Records is a space for those questions and a record for their answers.
Bring one, and it’s kept: clearly archived, worked by researchers with the right skills, and answered with sources you can trust. Even a search that finds nothing is remembered, so no one has to look in the same empty place twice.
Over time, your questions grow into something larger: a body of work, cited and kept, that can become a report, an article, even a book. Historical Present manages the research; Adaptor House can make it available, and even publish it.
We fund this by keeping and publishing that work, not by charging you to check it or to see it again.
And there’s room at the table. First question or fortieth year, you can work beside people who’ve done this for decades.
Your story is waiting. Let’s go find it.
