# The Progenitor at the Hidden Middle: Derivation, Coinage, and Corpus Test at 010

## Abstract

This is the third Progenitor paper and the first pole of the second pair, executing
the fixed method (derive, coin, test) at T2 (010), the address whose single mark sits
at the middle line and at neither face. The derivation locates T2 inside the S₂ band:
carried but ungrounded, the verdict that sustains recursion without earning payoff,
and the only member of its band whose carry is invisible from both faces. The coinage
result extends the fixed-point sequence: 010 is a palindrome, T2 a fixed point of the
stance action, and the Progenitor name lays free, with a sharpening the extremal pair
could not exhibit. At 000 and 111 the two observers agree about what they both see; at
010 they agree about what neither sees: each observer reads vacuum at their own face
and at the far face, and the mark both agree exists is located precisely where neither
stands. Under the opponent read σ, T2's partner is T5, and on this pair
complementarity is theorem per the adopted reading of AH-COINAGE-1 Proposition 4: the
star pair joins the heart pair as the lattice's second, and last, derived pairing. The
prose layer completes an exercise the series began earlier: AH-GRADE-GLOSS-1 §7
already laid *Dark Star* over this address's string as its published worked example of
the prose prerogative. This paper takes up that binding as its own subject, argues it
against the public surface ("a guiding signal is corrupted and misleads the agent who
follows it": something real operates where neither face shows it, and a reader of
faces is misled), and hands it to the corpus audit. The test section is honest about
scale: the star suit currently holds exactly two records, the decreed pair itself, so
the corpus witness for AH-SUITS-1's Question 2 is not yet independent of the decree it
would test, a circularity this paper logs as the star suit's distinctive open item.

## The ongoing conversation

This paper is one move in a published exchange, and it should be read as such. The
series is a set of proposals by Adaptor House to establish a concrete stance, and the
argument for that stance, on why particular first-order-logic strings and proofs were
mapped to particular linguistic words and phrases; the express goal of multilingual
mapping is a stated motivation of the series. AH-DERIVABILITY-1 proved the grading a
theorem and defended, at its Question 3, the asymmetry this address inhabits: three
ungrounded addresses under one verdict [1][3]. AH-SUITS-1 asked as its Question 2
whether star is the mirror pair, and named this address's record in the asking: "a
dark star as power unseen at either face is either evidence or coincidence, and the
question is which" [2]. AH-GRADE-GLOSS-1 did something at this address it did nowhere
else: its §7 exercise of the prose prerogative chose 010's string as the published
worked example, laying *Dark Star* over it with the decree cited and the audit
conditions stated [3]. AH-ABSENCE-1 supplied the reading under which the two vacuum
faces are satisfied negations, positive facts a derivation can stand on [4].
AH-COINAGE-1 supplied the naming function, the fixed points, and the opponent read
[5]. The extremal pair's papers fixed the Progenitor method's execution pattern and
carry the adopted decisions this pair consumes [6][7]. What this paper adds is the
completion of the gloss's own example: the binding that paper exhibited in two
sentences becomes a full derivation, coinage, and test.

## 1. Method and scope

The method and register are those of AH-PROG-T0-1 §1, unchanged: derive, coin, test;
engage the paired Question of AH-SUITS-1 as evidence exchange, never as answer; decree
nothing; mark residue candidate-for-decree. The adopted decisions of the internal
register consumed by the Progenitor papers (the compound-handle grammar; the adoption
of AH-COINAGE-1 Proposition 4 as the reading of record) are cited in the protected
form in the sequence's opening paper [6, §1] (company internal citation by the author
of record, July 2026†) and consumed here without restatement.

## 2. Definitions

**Definition 1 (inherited).** As throughout the series: addresses a = (g, m, t) ∈
{0,1}³ over lines ℓ ∈ {ground, middle, top}; signature with one predicate P(a, ℓ);
Grounded(a) := P(a, ground); Carried(a) := P(a, middle) ∨ P(a, top); grades named by
their strings S₁ through S₅ per the gloss Convention; addresses by their address
strings [1][3].

**Definition 2 (inherited, stance).** As in AH-COINAGE-1: stances G and C; transport
ρ; the naming function N(token, stance); the opponent read σ = κ ∘ ρ. Every token
printed in this paper is declared stance G [5].

**Definition 3 (the subject).** T2 is the address (0, 1, 0). Its address string, and
by the Convention its name of record, is:

> ¬Grounded(a) ∧ P(a, middle) ∧ ¬P(a, top)

**Definition 4 (Progenitor layer, cited).** As in AH-PROG-T0-1 [6, Def. 4]: the
corpus binds one decreed exemplar pair per suit; suit-pole placements and record
surfaces cited below are Reader-visible; the Progenitor designation is a decision of
the internal register, cited in the protected form†.

## 3. Derive

**Band membership, and the member it is.** T2's string entails Carried(a) ∧
¬Grounded(a) = S₂: the verdict of the ungrounded carried band, shared with T1 and T3,
whose operational sense under the binding rule of the system of record is that a
traversal here *sustains recursion*, neither collapsing nor earning payoff [7]. The
gloss's Question 3 defended the shared verdict as the theorem's own voice, with the
individuating sentences living one layer down at the address strings [3, §5]. T2's
individuating sentence is stated in Definition 3, and among its band it is singular in
one structural respect: T1 carries at the top (visible at the surface), T3 at both
upper lines (visible at the surface and at the middle), and T2 at the middle alone.
Of the three ungrounded carries, T2's is the only one no face shows. The canonical
description of record reads "Depth recursion emerges. Power held in the middle,
unseen at either face." [7]; as a formal condition this is the string clause by
clause: no mark at the ground face (¬Grounded), a mark at the middle (P(a, middle)),
no mark at the top face (¬P(a, top)), with "unseen at either face" licensed because
the signature's faces are exactly the ground and top lines and the string satisfies a
negation at each.

**Handles, under the adopted grammar.** The grade handle of S₂ is *ungrounded*, by
the adopted elision rule (a grade handle omitting Carried asserts it); T2's address
handle is *ungrounded-mid* (§1†). The handle names the band and the carry location in
two morphemes, and the elision rule does its decreed work here: the band handle is
the visible common prefix of its three addresses, and T2 is the *-mid* member.

**What T2 is not.** T2 is not weak: S₂ is the band the binding rule sustains, the
grade of live recursion [7], and its retired lexeme was "strong" before the gloss
moved the band to its string [3]. And T2's hiddenness is not indeterminacy: by
AH-ABSENCE-1 the two vacuum faces are satisfied negations, facts as positive as the
middle's mark [4]. The address does not say "we cannot tell whether the faces are
marked"; it says the faces are unmarked and the middle is not, completely and
checkably.

## 4. Coin

**Layer 1 (name of record).** N(010, G) resolves the token to T2 and returns the
address string of Definition 3.

**The fixed-point fact, sharpened.** 010 is a palindrome: ρ(010) = 010, so N(010, G)
= N(010, C), and T2 is a fixed point of the stance action [5, Prop. 2]. The
Progenitor name lays **free**, no stance signature. But the *content* of the two
observers' agreement differs in kind from the extremal pair's, and the difference is
worth stating because the prose layer will consume it. At 000 both observers agree on
total absence; at 111, on total assertion: in each case what is agreed is what both
plainly see. At 010 each observer reads their own face and finds vacuum, reads the
far face and finds vacuum, and the one mark both agree exists sits at the only line
that is neither observer's position. The fixed-point agreement at T2 is agreement
about something neither observer confronts directly: both know the power is there,
and both know it is not where either of them stands. This is the formal shape of
hiddenness-in-plain-agreement, and it is a theorem-shaped fact, not a mood.

**The opponent read.** σ(010) = κ(010) = 101: T2's partner under the opponent read is
T5, and because 010 is a palindrome, σ here reduces to complementation. Under the
adopted reading of Proposition 4 (§1†), on this pair complementarity is theorem [5,
Prop. 4a]. The star pair is thereby the second and last derived pairing the lattice
offers: the four palindromes exhaust the fixed points [5, Prop. 2], and with heart
and star treated, every remaining Progenitor paper will work on the authored side of
the line.

**Layer 2 (handle).** *ungrounded-mid* (§3). Handle and string regenerate each other
under the adopted grammar, with the elision rule invoked exactly once, as decreed
(§1†).

**Layer 3 (prose), taking up the gloss's own example.** This layer differs from every
other Progenitor paper's in one respect: the prose claim at 010 is already on the
published record. AH-GRADE-GLOSS-1 §7, exercising the prerogative it had just
defined, laid *Dark Star* over this address's string as its worked example: "power
held at the heart, unseen at either face," with the decree cited in the protected
form and the audit condition stated, that the corpus's nearest-neighbor methodology,
once FOL-derived, measures whether the records clustering at this string are the
records the prose predicts [3, §7]. This paper adopts that published claim as its
subject and completes the argument the example compressed. The record's
Reader-visible surface reads: "A guiding signal is corrupted and misleads the agent
who follows it" [8]. The claim, marked as a derived proposal continuing the gloss's
published binding:

> *Dark Star* is prose the computation at 010 supports. The address string asserts
> one mark, at the middle, and satisfied negations at both faces. A star is followed
> by its light at the surface; T2 is the configuration in which what operates
> operates at the heart and no face shows it, so an agent who reads faces, and faces
> are what an agent can read, is misled precisely because the structure is not
> empty. The surface's word "corrupted" is the pole fact worn as prose: the empty
> star is not the absent signal (that is the empty address's territory [6]) but the
> present signal that does not reach a face. And the grade completes the reading:
> S₂ sustains recursion [7], so the dark star does not resolve the traversal it
> misleads; it keeps it going. The fixed-point agreement of §4 is the claim's
> structural core: both observers agree the power is there and agree it is where
> neither of them stands, which is what hiddenness is, stated in the signature.

The claim inherits the string's refutation conditions per the gloss, unchanged from
their published statement [3, §7].

**Interaction with the decreed trope, under the Revision Rule.** As at the extremal
pair: the derivation supports the decreed binding, already published in example form
[3, §7]; no flag change or renaming is proposed; the contradiction duty was not
triggered.

**Residue, marked candidate-for-decree.** (1) Whether the completed argument above is
adopted as the house's prose of record over T2's string (the gloss's example already
carries decree in compressed form†; what stands for the author of record is the
adoption of this paper's completed version as the statement of record). (2) Whether
the fixed-point prose family (agreement-vocabulary) extends to T2 with a member of
its own; this paper's candidate, offered without a binding, is *held center*: what
both observers agree on at T2 is a center held where neither stands.

## 5. Test

**What the public surface shows, and its scale.** The Reader corpus at the time of
writing holds 28 records; the star suit holds exactly two: *Dark Star* (empty pole)
and *Illuminating Star* (full pole), each listing the other as its dual in the public
surface, the only records in the corpus that do so [8]. The two surfaces are exact
pole complements in prose: a corrupted guiding signal that misleads, against a
truthful guiding signal that orients [8]. This is consistent with the coined prose,
and it is thin, and the thinness is the finding.

**The circularity, logged as the star suit's open item.** At current scale the star
suit's corpus evidence *is* the decreed Progenitor pair: there are no non-Progenitor
star records whose independent placement could corroborate or strain the pair's
reading, as the heart suit's eight non-Progenitor records did for the extremal pair
[6][7]. AH-SUITS-1's Question 2 asked whether the star records' names are evidence or
coincidence [2]; this paper adds the sharper form: until the star suit is populated
by records that were not themselves decreed as its exemplars, the corpus witness for
Question 2 cannot be independent of the decree it would test. The audit that resolves
this is the same one the gloss published: FOL-derived nearest-neighbor distances at
corpus scale, which will place *new* records near or far from 010's string by
computation, not decree [3, §7]. Until then, the test at T2 is support-without-
independence, and says so.

**What is gated, stated exactly.** As throughout the sequence: per-record core and
phase data are quotable only for published records; neither star record is published
at the time of writing (company internal citation by the author of record, July
2026†). The per-record audit stands as an open request.

**Test verdict at this address.** Coined name unrevised by data: the two-record
aggregate supports; independence unavailable at current scale, logged above and
carried in the change log until the suit populates.

## 6. Cross-thread: evidence for Question 2, not an answer

AH-SUITS-1's Question 2 asks whether star is the mirror pair: full star at 101, empty
star at 010 [2, §4]. Per the compendium's status line of record, the suit table is
"associations, not rulings" [8]. This paper forwards and complicates without
answering.

**Forwarded.** The star pair {010, 101} is the second of the two pairs on which
complementarity is theorem under the adopted reading (§1†) [5]: if star takes it,
star joins heart as a suit whose pole pairing two observers derive. And the
fixed-point sharpening of §4 is evidence of a new kind for the *empty* pole
specifically: "power unseen at either face," which AH-SUITS-1 could only quote as a
description [2], is now characterized structurally as the unique address whose
fixed-point agreement concerns a mark neither observer confronts, a property no
other address in the lattice has.

**Complicated.** The suits-to-pairs freedom stands untouched [2, Prop. 2], and §5's
circularity cuts against Question 2 harder than against Question 1: the heart pair's
aggregate had independent records to read; the star pair's does not. A challenger
who thinks the star names coincidence rather than evidence should note that this
paper has just handed them the precise form of their objection, and the precise
computation that would settle it (§5). The Question is left where it stands, with
its evidence base honestly measured.

## 7. Refutation conditions

Invited explicitly, per the series register. Any of the following breaks a claim of
this paper, at the layer named:

1. **Derivation error (layer 1).** Show T2's name of record misstates the address,
   or that its band membership fails: any daylight between Definition 3's string and
   the S₂ band's defining condition. (This would breach AH-DERIVABILITY-1 Theorem 1
   and the gloss before it breached this paper.)
2. **Fixed-point failure (coinage).** Exhibit a live consumer in which naming T2
   requires a stance declaration. As throughout the pair sequence, this refutes
   AH-COINAGE-1 Proposition 2 itself [5].
3. **Prose-claim failure (layer 3, corpus-scale).** The gloss's published audit,
   inherited unchanged: when nearest-neighbor distances are FOL-derived, show the
   records clustering at 010 are not the records the Dark Star prose predicts [3,
   §7]. Because of §5's circularity, this door opens properly only as the star suit
   populates; a challenger and this paper are waiting on the same data.
4. **Test failure (per-record, currently gated).** Exhibit a disclosed star record
   whose phase traversal, evaluated under the binding rule [7], contradicts the
   sustained-recursion reading at 010: a traversal that *resolves* at the hidden
   middle would be the sharpest form.

Refutations will be published at the address of record, dated and credited, alongside
the claims they broke.

## 8. Discussion: the interlocutors

*(Interlocutor register throughout; archive citations are archive-only and no

**The Abysmal.** The classical tradition drew this figure, one unbroken line between
two broken, and named it Kan, the Abysmal, Water: danger, the ravine, the heart that
holds firm within peril. The concordance the archive keeps records the
correspondence [9, archive-marked]. The tradition's reading and the derivation above
agree on the structural core to a degree worth stating: Kan's classical image is
precisely a strong center enclosed by yielding exteriors, sincerity locked inside
danger, and the formal reading is a mark at the middle enclosed by satisfied
negations at both faces. Where they part is valence. The tradition reads the hidden
center as *sincerity*, the trustworthy heart within the perilous exterior; the
corpus's prose reads the same configuration as the *corrupted* signal, hiddenness as
the mechanism of misleading. Same structure, opposite moral. The archive side is
invited to take the disagreement up in its own register: what did the tradition's
readers do with the strong hidden center, in practice, that reads it as
trustworthiness where this corpus reads it as corruption, and is the difference one
of structure or of which agent the reading serves, the holder of the center or the
follower of the faces?

**What is not claimed.** No claim that the suit assignment is derived: Question 2
remains AH-SUITS-1's, open, with its evidence base measured (§6). No claim that any
trope id is renamed, revised, or reflagged (§4). No claim that the §5 circularity is
a defect of the decree: exemplars are decreed by design; the claim is only that
exemplars cannot corroborate themselves, and the audit that supplies independence is
already published [3, §7]. And no claim of novelty in the instruments: everything
used is inherited exactly as cited [1][3][4][5].

## 9. Author's Position

Held, not argued here. The position (belief register, first person, per
AH-DERIVABILITY-1 §6) is published as this paper's companion document on the archive
side (AH-PROG-T2-1-H, historicalpresent.com/shared), the arrangement assumed from
the precedent of the series' published companions, awaiting per-paper confirmation
by the author of record. **Archive-only**: never citable by live systems. The
derivation (§3), the coinage claims with their layers marked (§4), the test verdict
with its logged circularity (§5), and the refutation conditions (§7) are this
